Fragile
Mixed Media
Finally, my last piece of this journey through the art program happens to be a favorite. The inspiration from this piece realistically came from a sticker that I saw on a box that said "Fragile handle with care". It was that that triggered the inspiration for this piece the most. Besides that symbolism place a huge part here too. I had a small idea that had nothing to do with the outcome for this piece but while trying to completely the original idea this came to be and I believe it is better and I am definitely proud of this.

Found objects
This piece, to me, falls at the very bottom of my favorite pieces this year. My inspiration here came from Barbara Kruger. I decided to make a piece inspired by her, again, to see what different take I had on it a year from the last time. It was an enjoyable work to create but the outcome wasn't completely as expected. Looking at the finished product I believe this could have been done way better and the concept could even be done in a completely different way. Because of how I feel about the outcome, I take it as a learning experience and as always a reference to improve from very soon.

Goodbye
Photoshop
This is yet another one of my favorite pieces also because it is very personal to me. It was also one of the pieces that was most fun to make. Personally I really enjoy photoshop and to be able to combine that with photography was very enjoyable. Now, the rose was an actual rose that was given to me which is what gives this entire piece so much meaning. There's real history and meaning behind that rose that the rest of the piece only enhances the feeling. The color choice also really helps portray the mood I try to get across through this piece. There such a story behind this piece that I adore it and it has become one of the pieces I am most proud of.

The Fall
Photography
This piece has been one of my favorite out of my work produced during my senior year mainly because it so personal. I am so proud of my background and culture and I finally decided to make a piece that reflect that and some of my feeling about it. Originally my idea wasn't to place the cups as they were but the idea changed while photographing them. The piece makes me extremely emotional and I believe that is beautiful. This is one of the works I am most proud of.

Acrylic on Canvas
At this point in my art I have been very experienced with acrylic on canvas. Many previous pieces have also been completed this way. This piece was a bit different with the technique used to achieve the outcome. This piece came from the inspiration of feminism. The finished product was not what I originally expected. A better job could have been done and errors could have been corrected but I decided to leave it as so to be able to reflect on it and have something to improve on in the near future.

Pencil Sketch on Sketch Paper
11 in x 8.5 in
This piece was one of my most simple ones. It became more of a learning and experimenting pieces for me. Sketching still lives helped me with distinguishing the lights and the darks on an object. Overall I believe I did a decent job on the sketches. This is my least favorite piece due to the fact that personally, I am not very good at drawing especially not realistic objects. I believe with more practice and many more of these sketches will help me improve my skills with drawing and I see this as the beginning of that.

Acrylic on canvas

May 2015
The hues of this piece were probably my favorite to work with. Previously I had been working with a lot of black as well as neutral colors so it was a bit of a change to work with the type f colors I did in this piece. It was extremely enjoyable and a bit of a challenge with learning on how the different colors work. I believe I was very successful on showing my inspiration by Monet as well.

April 2015
This was one of my favorite pieces. I was originally doubtful on the paper bag but once adding and placing it on the piece I believe it gave it that extra touch. Working with clay has always been a very enjoyable experience for me so the process of making this piece was pleasant. My message is conveyed very clear. My outcome on this piece was, I believe, extremely successful.

February 2015
This piece is one of my favorite and one that I am most proud of. My main inspiration to the piece was my personal life and my religion which is Catholicism. Although I had a religious inspiration, with the way the piece resulted, it reminded me and gave it a baroque feel, I believe, especially with the way the light hits the hand at the front and having it contrast with the very dark overall tone.

January 2015
Although having three canvases, this piece was entirely inspired by Pablo Picasso and his cubism period. One of my favorite parts of this piece was how in the middle canvas it doesn't seem like they're really buildings but it's all due to the inspiration. One of the hardest parts was the last canvas but it is also my favorite one. Although it's very simple the fine lines required a lot of time but it paid off.

Two or One?
Acrylic on canvas
3 ft x 3 ft
December 2014
Beginning this piece I was doubtful of it but upon its completion I grew to love it. Not only was I able to make the painting actually look like myself but I believe my idea of self portrait and the way I presented it wasn't only very unique but kind of creepy which I'm proud of. I completely fell in love with was I did to the bare face with the shadows, it has inspired me to do something similar to other pieces. I also believe my inspiration by Salvador Dali's "Sleep" is effectively portrayed,

November 2014
Barbara Kruger was my inspiration for this piece and I believe I conveyed that very effectively. Out of two print making pieces this was probably my favorite. The amount of detail that can be made using the process was incredible. Being able to see the difference color can make to a piece was also very interesting to see.

November 2014
This is one of my favorite pieces. I've always liked working in black and creating dark pieces. During the process of creating this piece I was inspired by many things for example The Persistence of Memory by Dali, obsession with time, and a freshman year project I made called Activate the Void. Not only and I absolutely proud of the out come but another one of my favorite thing about this one is that so many things inspired me for one.

Are They Really Fragile?
Ink on paper
October 2014
Georgia O'Keefe was my inspiration for this piece. I really wanted to convey two moods to this piece, a soft one, more fragile and a bit more hardcore reeling at the same time. Finding a way to convey the two at the same time was a bit hard but it was do-able in the end.

This was my very first piece beginning the IB art program so it was something new to me. it was also my very first time working with photoshop. Upon the completion of this piece, I learned a lot. This piece caused me to expand my horizons and it inspired me to work in different mediums because they could turn out good, like this one which I'm extremely proud of.
